Telehealth appointments: Telehealth appointments are available for established patients. If you have a cough, fever, and have traveled abroad, please call the center to schedule a virtual visit. We will do everything that we can to make sure that you have your neurological needs met. Some Telehealth regulations may be changing soon. As a result, patients may be held financially responsible for claims that are processed by insurance companies and denied. It is strongly recommended that patients contact their insurance companies to inquire whether Telehealth services continue to be a covered benefit under their plan.

New patient appointment (initial): New patient appointments at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology are one hour. During the appointment your vitals are taken, your history is reviewed, tests are ordered if deemed necessary, prescriptions are prescribed, and possible treatments are discussed. The new patient appointment is scheduled with any of our clinicians, nurse practitioners, and/or specialists.
Follow up appointments: Follow up appointments at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology are 30 minutes. The first follow up appointment after the initial consultation is scheduled with Dr. Halpern. All other follow ups are scheduled with the practitioner of your choice and are dependent upon your availability and our practitioners availability. After the initial consultation, an individualized treatment plan is developed specifically for each patient. Each patient will have their own unique treatment plan which can include a combination of treatment methods ranging from prescription management, injections, botox, infusion therapy, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, vitamin/herb therapy, sleep management, weight loss management, massage therapy, acupuncture, aromatherapy, and mental health services. We at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology believe in treating the whole patient and not just the symptom!
Testing: Testing is usually performed at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology and is ordered by our practitioners. The type of test and duration is discussed and ordered specifically to rule out conditions that may be the cause of the patient’s symptoms. Testing can last 30 minutes to an hour. Other tests can take 2-3 days to complete.
Skype appointment: Dr. Halpern and the practitioners at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology offer video chat visits to established patients only. New patients must be seen first in the office before Skype visits can be arranged. Because insurance companies do not cover visits in this format, the charges are fully the responsibility of the patient, and range from $90 and up. Often, compared to the cost of an insurance copay, combined with transportation costs and time lost from work, Skype visits can be economically efficient. These visits must be arranged in advance with the staff at the center.
Injection Appointment: Injection Appointments at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology can be 30 minutes-90 minutes in duration depending on the type of injection and whether IV fluids are administered. No special preparation is needed, and afterwards you can go about your day as your normally would with little restrictions.
IV Therapy: IV therapy appointments are available to patients. Patients are scheduled an appointment with one of our providers. Our providers will determine if IV therapy is appropriate and order the medications and fluids that will be administered during the IV. Our nurse will perform the IV. Duration of IV therapy can range from 30 minutes – 90 minutes. Medications often administered during IV/IM/SQ therapy may include vitamins, magnesium, nausea medications, and pain medications, in addition to the administration of IV fluids.
Vitamin C IV Therapy: Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally occurring in foods including fruits and vegetables. It may be found in vegetables such as peppers, cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, potatoes, and spinach and in fruits such as citrus, berries, and tomatoes. The benefits of vitamin C include enhancing the function of your immune system, maintaining eye health, and protecting against cardiovascular disease. It also is important in blood vessel health and the maintenance of collagen and cartilage in your body. Some people may be more susceptible than others to deficiencies in vitamin C including smokers, people with certain gastrointestinal conditions, or those with a limited diet. We are pleased to announce that our office offers vitamin C IV infusions by appointment. Botox Appointment: Botox Appointments at The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology are 30 minutes. They are scheduled every 12 weeks with any of our clinicians, nurse practitioners, and/or specialists. No special preparation is needed, and afterwards you can go about your day as you normally would with little restrictions. Botox can be used for several other neurological conditions as well.
Mental Health Appointments: Mental Health Appointments are 30-60 minutes. The frequency of the appointments can be weekly, bimonthly, or monthly. Medication management sessions are dependent upon our provider’s professional expertise. Skype visits are available upon request.
Biofeedback Sessions: Biofeedback packages are specifically tailored to each individual. Call to inquire for more information.
Insurance: The Manhattan Center for Headache & Neurology participates with the following insurance plans: Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, and The Empire Plan from UnitedHealthcare. Contact our front desk to begin the benefit verification process so that the center may confirm the participation status with your insurance carrier. Any charges not covered by insurance will be your responsibility. We do not participate with Medicaid. We request payment at the time of your appointment. Your insurance company may also require you to pay a co-payment, co-insurance, and/or deductible. Your out of pocket fees are due at the time of your appointment. If a medication or a procedure requires an authorization, the center will assist to obtain an authorization required by your insurance company.
If you require completion of any additional employment, insurance or legal forms you will be charged a fee.
This practice does not prescribe opioids, barbiturates, or controlled substances.
